Pixels is a client for Immich, the self-hosted photo platform. You need a running Immich server and an account on it. In the app, sign in with your server's address and your Immich credentials.
Yes. In Settings → Connections you can set both a home (local) address and an external address for your server. Pixels switches between them automatically as you come and go.
Turn on Photos & Videos in Settings → Sync and Pixels backs up your iPhone library to your server automatically, including in the background. The sync queue in the app always shows what's pending.
Yes — it only removes media from your device after confirming an identical copy is safely on your server. Removed items go to Recently Deleted for up to 30 days, and they remain in your library, streaming from your server when you view them. Note that if you use iCloud Photos, removals sync to your other Apple devices too — the app tells you before it acts.
Partner sharing follows your Immich settings: your partner shares their library with you in Immich, and you choose whether their photos appear in your timeline. Both ends are configured on the server; Pixels reflects them.
Pixels refreshes automatically whenever you return to the app. If something still looks wrong, Settings → Storage → Reset Cache clears the app's local data and re-syncs everything from your server — nothing on the server is touched.
